Far Eastern Department
RT HON ROY JENKINS MP
1. I attach a letter from Mr Roy Jenkins following up his
call on the PUS on Wednesday, 25 July, during which Mr Jenkins'
forthcoming visit to China, Hong Kong, Australia and Thailand
were discussed.
2. When informing Sir John Addis of these plans, the PUS would
like it to be put to the Ambassador that he would no doubt like
to put up Mr Jenkins and his wife; will he get in touch with
Mr Jenkins .direct or through the Office?
1
3. I understand that Mr Jenkins is already in touch with
Sir Morrice James, to whom a copy of the attached letter should
however be sent.
4. Mr Jenkins is extremely anxious to talk to someone in Hong
Kong, and the PUS would like you to ask the Acting Governor to
look out for him.
5. Mr Jenkins also hopes that it will be possible for someone
to put him and his wife up in Bangkok.
6.
I should be grateful if FED could co-ordinate action with
the other departments concerned.
