LETTER FROM DAME JOAN VICKERS DBE MP

1. The attached letter from Dame Joan Vickers is a reply to your letter of 2 August to her Secretary, seeking clarification of Dame Joan's earlier letter to Mr Royle.

2. The latest letter still does not yet give us enough concrete information to base a request to Hong Kong to arrange accommodation for the party. However, Dame Joan is asking the other members of the party for their requirements.

3. In the meantime, I propose to write to the Acting Colonial Secretary, warning him of the proposed visit and promising to send further details when they have been received from Dame Joan.

4.

Dame Joan says that the party would welcome FCO briefing. I assume that this refers mainly to China, but this department would of course be happy to participate.
