He had bought his own furni- ture, costing £925, and his own refrigerator, although he was entitled to Government sup- plies.

Mr Penlington said Superin- tendent Hunt had spent £1,185 on home appliances such as air conditioners, a washing machine, and a colour televi sion.

He had owned three cars, a Volkswagen, a Jaguar saloon, and a Jaguar sports car, which had cost £3,262. The prosecutor also listed a number of other items, such as travel and medi- cal fees, on which Superinten- dent Hunt has spent substantial amounts and said he and his second wife possessed jewellery and other items worth £3,205.

The police officer appeared relaxed at today's hearing, joking with reporters. He told them he had no intention of "this leaving Hong Kong until whole matter is cleared up." He is free on £4,724 bail. Reuter.
