INFORMATION ON DEPENDENT TERRITORIES FOR UKMIS NEW YORK

1. I understand that it used to be the practice for important letters, telegrams, constitutional amendments etc., to be copied by the responsible geographical departments to UND, who forwarded those they considered to be of interest to the UK Mission to New York. Presumably as a result of changes in this and other departments concerned, this practice has lapsed and UKMis New York have told us that they feel they do not at present receive as much information on political and constitutional developments in the dependent territories as they used to and as they would like. Although we have withdrawn from the Committee of 24, this information is still useful to the Mission in presenting a balanced picture of British colonial policies in the corridors to Delegations still serving on the Committee.

I would therefore be most grateful if it could now be revived, and if copies of important papers could be sent to Mir Plumbly in this department. addition, to bring the Mission in New York up to date, it would be helpful if you could send Mr Plumbly any material of particular interest put out during the first 4 months of this year which was not copied to UKMis New York.
