Sir,

I have the honour to inform you that the International Atomic Energy Agency, in co-operation with the Government of Thailand and in association with the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East, will hold a Regional Survey and Briefing Course on the Technical and Economic Aspects. of Nuclear evelopment in Bangkok from 3 to 18 December 1973.

The object of the course will be to provide information on the future for nuclear power in developing countries and, in particular, in the ECAFE region, and on the implications and commitments of the decision-making process leading towards the establishment of a nuclear power programme in a country. The course is primarily intended for senior government officials and managerial-level staff from economio development authorities and electricity-generating authorities connected with the initiation, evaluation and management of nuclear power projects and programmes. The course will be conducted in English. The lecturing staff will consist of Thai experts, Agency staff and visiting specialists provided by the Agency. The number of participants will be limited to 30.

Governments are invited to submit two nominations for this course. These should be made in duplicate on the standard Agency form entitled "Application for Training Course", a set of which is enclosed. Additional forms can be obtained from the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in or nearest to your country.

Applications should be endorsed by the appropriate Government authorities (the authorities responsible for nuclear matters, the economic development authorities or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and should be returned in time to reach the Agency not later than 15 September 1973. Nominations received after that date and appli- cations sent direct by individuals or by private institutions will not be considered.
