GEOFFREY GOULD BRIGGS
Mr Geoffrey Gould Briggs was born on May 6, 1914.
He was educated at Sherborne School and Christ Church
College, Oxford.
He was called to the Bar (Grays Inn) in 1938.
He served in the Army from 1939 to 1946 and was appointed
Crown Counsel in Nigeria in January 1947. He was promoted to
Senior Crown Counsel in 1951; Legal Secretary, Eastern Region,
Nigeria, in 1952; and Attorney General, Eastern Region, Nigeria
in 1954. Mr Briggs was appointed as a Puisne Judge in the
Unified Judiciary of Sarawak, North Borneo and Brunei, in August,
1958 and as Chief Justice of the Western Pacific in February,
1962.
He transferred to the service of the Government of Hong Kong
as a Fuisne Judge in February 1965.
