5. Safety Equipment Certificate for cargo ships, covering life-saving appliances including lifeboat equipment, line- throwing apparatus, fire-extinguishing appliances, navi- gation lights and shapes, sound signals and distress signals.

C. Safety Radiotelegrady Certificate for non-passenger ships fitted with radiotele raph installations (including D. T.).

7. Safety Radictelephony Certificate for non-passengen ships under 1,600 tons gross fitted with radiotelephone installations.

Qualified Radio Certificate for special cases of cargo ships.

Exemption Certificate issued in conjunction with 3, 4 and 8, stating from which provisions of the Safety Convention Act the ship is exempt and the conditions of exemption.

N. B. 6, 7 and 8 are each referred to simply as the

Radio Certificate".

The periods of validity of the various certificates are as shown below.

In certain circumstances the periods of validity may be extended.

Ships which carry a Safety Certificate have issued to them a document entitled a Record of Safety Equipment which must be kept on board at all times.
