REGISTRATION OF SHIPPING IN HONG KONG
1. This question came up again while you were away on leave and we were asked to send a questionnaire out to Mark Goodfellow in Hong Kong asking him to discuss it with the authorities and to discover whether a visit by two officials from the DTI Marine Division would be helpful (please see 48 to 51 in this file).
2.
Dick Crowson's letter to Mark (49) asked him to send us a telegram after his preliminary discussions. We have not yet received a telegram from Mark and the DTI are anxious to know the score as they have two officials standing by to go to Hong Kong on 5 September. They have asked if we would be willing to send a further telegram to Hong Kong. I attach a draft, do you agree that this should issue?
