The Humble Petition of the members of the Committee
of the Hong Kong Bar Association (hereinafter referred to 'The Committee') respectfully sheweth as follows:-
1.
Your Petitioners are the members of the Committee

The legal profession in the Colony of Hong Kong is All the practising
barristers in the Colony are members of the Hong Kong Bar
Association.

The Association is constituted to uphold the integrity
and dignity of the Bar in Hong Kong and has, under Legal Practitioners Ordinance, Cap. 159, rights and obligations în relation to the admission and discipline of barristers in the
Colony.
4.
The practising Bar in Hong Kong numbers 48, of whom 5 At present, the only are Her Majesty's Counsel for Hong Kong. persons entitled to practise at the Hong Kong Bar are persons who have been called to the Bar in England (or Northern Ireland, or admitted as Advocates in Scotland).
Accordingly all the
practising barristers in Hong Kong (with one exception) are
members of the English Bar.
5.
The composition of the practising Bar in Hong Kong is
near future. In April 1969 a Department likely to change in the of Law was established at the University of Hong Kong.
The
first students, admitted to the Department in September 1969, will graduate with the degree of L1. B. in 1972.
