has received a letter from ir Henry Litton QC a
copy of which enclose together with a copy of the
acknowledgement from the Private Secretary. The
letter would seem to indicate that the Bar Association
has wind of your proposal in respect of Jackson-Lipkin
and is issuing a warning of their likely attitude
were he appointed to the Bench. Doubtless you are
already aware of this trend but it does seem that the
appointment of Mr Jackson-Lipkin would arouse strong
feelings of resentment amongst both petitioners.
I am sure you would agree that we do not want to get
the worst of both these particular worlds unless we
are quite satisfied this is necessary in the interest
of both public and the administration of justice.
