I understand you wish to know the present position with regard to the revised offer being worked out by DTI and referred to in the telegram you sent to the Governor yesterday (no 122 of 8 February).

As recently as yesterday Miss Lowne, DTI, promised that the "revised package" would be received by us this afternoon and checks of DTI made this morning by Commodities Department and (to another source) by myself, confirm that DTI are working on it at the moment. Commodities Department will continue pressing for a response: they expect to be informed by telephone when it is ready and are proposing to send an officer by taxi to collect it.
Commodities Department have undertaken to give me an up to date account of latest developments and in turn I will keep you informed.
