Mr. Pearson will be reporting separately on the formal meetings on 10th and 11th July. This memorandum merely touches on (a) and (b) above.

Liaison Officers
During the last meeting of the Working Party, the G.A.T.T. Secretariat pressed strongly for the appointment of Liaison Officers in capitals for direct contact in connection with the current Textiles Study. There were no objections from the floor and participants were urged to nominate an appropriate official by name before their delegations left Geneva. Whatever we may feel about the need for these Liaison Officers, we should at least try to be co-operative. Accordingly, I have asked Mr. Pearson to write to the G.A.T.T. Secretariat that he would be happy to convey immediately to Hong Kong any requests for informa- tion. He would also say that if they wished to contact Hong Kong direct, the Liaison Officer for the time being would be:
3.
The Principal Trade Officer
(Regions other than Europe) (currently Mr. P.K. Y. Tsao) Commerce & Industry Department, Fire Brigade Building,
Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong.
All our replies would, of course, be routed through Mr. Pearson.
