ANNEX B

ASIAN/AFRICAN TOUR BY THE CHANCELLOR OF THE

DUCHY OF LANCASTER: 7 SEPTEMBER

8 OCTOBER

Bangkok

Mr Rippon would stay privately in Bangkok and would not wish the Embassy to make any special provision on his behalf.

Hong Kong

After flying to Hong Kong, where he would also stay privately, Mr Rippon plans to spend the first three days with personal friends and contacts. He would begin his Ministerial programme on Thursday 14 September, at which point the ordinary provision for a Ministerial visit (subsistence, etc) should come into effect. In the course of Thursday, he would hope to have useful talks with those concerned in Hong Kong with our entry to the Community, continuing into Friday 15 September, if necessary.

Singapore

Mr Rippon would hope to have two working sessions in Singapore, on the mornings of Saturday 16 and Monday 18 September.

Kuala Lumpur

He would devote the whole of Tuesday 19 September to official talks with those concerned in Malaysia.

Dacca

Since he will be spending 21 days in Dacca, Mr Rippon hopes that, apart from discussions with Bangalee Ministers, he would be able to see something of the sur- rounding countryside, perhaps visiting a British Aid scheme.
