The Chancellor
of the Duchy of Lancaster
is making a tour of the Commonwealth in September.
Before starting on his official trip Mr Rippon
wishes to spend a week privately in Hong Kong.
He had at first proposed that on this visit to
Hong Kong he might have discussions on the EEC.
However, the proximity of the PM's visit plus the
fact that the PM himself will wish to discuss
British entry into the EEC makes Mr Rippon's
visit unnecessary for official purposes.
