Mr Rippon could say that we are working with our partners

in the Community towards a common policy on textiles. This has

to take into account the fact that the UK's textile imports

from developing countries are proportionately far greater than

those of the Six.

10. We are urging them to move towards free circulation of

textile goods within the Community, and the adoption of genuine

Community Quotas for imports, possibly on a pan-fibre basis,

but we recognise that this can only come about gradually.
