Dear Miss Kelly,
RECEIVED IN REGISTRY No.51 24 AUG 1972
14KK 3/548/10
We spoke on Monday afternoon about Lady MacLehose's return to Hong Kong and the possibility of Sir Murray meeting the Committee of the Chamber of Chinese Traders.
In regard to Lady MacLehose, I attach a copy of a letter dated 8th August from the A.D.C., and as you are making all arrangements for H.E's return, we agreed that you would do the same for Lady MacLehose on the lines requested in the attached letter.
In regard to the Chamber of Chinese Traders, I attach two copies of a note on this organisation. It is, I think, one which deserves support, and I know that they would be delighted if Sir Murray could spare half- an-hour to meet them.
A new Committee has recently been elected and will be sworn in at 4 p.m. on September 6th at Young's Restaurant in West Street just off Cambridge Circus.
They would like H.E. to officiate at the Swearing-In ceremony, but I have told them that he has an appointment at 3.30 so will not be free at that time. They would willingly defer the Ceremony until 5 or 5.30 p.m. if Sir Murray could fit it into his programme. If this is not possible, the Ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. as arranged and they wondered if Sir Murray could honour them with his presence for half-an-hour after the Ceremony, say from 5 to 5.30 or thereabouts.
Yours, sincerely,
In school W might
(A.M.J.Wright),
