1.

Sir Murray MacLehose asked me to thank you for the effort you had put into drawing up his programme.

2. However, he said that he found the programme very full and asked that in any future tour of duty he should be allowed more free time for making records etc. He suggested that there should be one and a half hours free each day after lunch for this purpose.

3. Sir Murray MacLehose said that he would have preferred in this instance to have allotted a longer time to his visits to enable the same number of visits to be spread over a longer time. I pointed out that I thought he would always be in considerable demand and he said he would be happy to take our view on how long he should devote to Whitehall visits.

On arrival,am at the Governor's request, obtained a temporary office pass for him from Mr D L White, Security Department (MB 1734). it would be preferable if such a pass could be obtained prior to the Governor's next visit even though it will have to be held until he comes into the office.
