officially opened the Cross Harbour Tunnel, a major
British achievement which was financed by a £14
million loan from Lloyds Bank backed by ECGD.
The UK also has a Trade Commission in Hong
Kong whose principal function is to assist British
exporters.

of State
could say we are well aware of Britain's
declining share of the market, and that the
Exhibition is an important and integral part of a
new promotional effort we are making to reverse
this trend in the face of fierce competition
mainly from Japan and the United States.

securing the contract for the £500 million Mass
Transit Railway projection
If the opportunity occurs the Secretary of State may like to emphasise how important it is for the Hong Kong Government and the British Trade Commission to keep in touch on trade matters.
