exceptions in the Community's scheme for Hong Kong (textiles
and footwear), considerable trading advantage for the territ-
ory has been secured in this way. It is unlikely that the
Community or any other donor would have included Hong Kong in
its scheme if we had not pressed for this in the context of
our entry negotiations. It is hoped that as a result of the
BBC'
s initiative in including Hong Kong in its scheme, other
countries will follow suit and include her in their schemes as
they come into operation.

Representatives of commercial interests in Hong Kong have
shown satisfaction with these arrangements.
5. There is of course no question of our losing preferences
in Hong Kong since we do not receive any at the moment.
