The Present Position

Following an intimation early in 1970 by the
Financial Secretary that Hong Kong would proceed
with the project with or without assistance from
London, a contract was awarded to a Japanese
construction firm in October 1970.
Because of
this, it was decided that there was no longer any
possibility of financial assistance from HMG for
this project.
