MR PETER BLAKER'S PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE,
1.
Mr Peter Blaker has put down a Parliamentary Question for oral reply on Monday, 23 October to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth affairs if he will make a statement about his recent official visit to Hong Kong.
2. News Department issued a press release on 2 October announcing the Secretary of State's visit to Hong Kong on 2/3 November following his visit to Feking. However I understand from the Parliamentary Office that we cannot expect Mr Blaker to withdraw his question for 23 October which is the day when the Secretary of State is first in order for answering questions. Mr Blaker will undoubtedly use the opportunity for putting supplementary questions.
3. We should therefore be very grateful if you could provide some draft Notes for supplementaries on currency problems.
4. I should also be grateful if Mr Hazle in Commodities Department, to whom I am copying this minute, could bear in mind that nearer the date we shall have to provide Notes for Supplementaries on textiles.
5. We have been asked to let the Farliamentary Office have the final draft reply and Notes for supplementaries by Tuesday, 17 October.
