Mr Randall (FPAD Room G60/G)

SECRETARY OF STATE'S VISIT TO HONG KONG 2/3 NOVEMBER 1972

1.

The Secretary of State will pay a brief visit to Hong Kong on his return from China. In Hong Kong he will have talks with the Governor and with the Unofficial Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils. The main purpose of the Secretary of State's visit is to report on his talks in Peking, but we have been asked to produce a general Defensive Frief on any points which the Unofficial Members of ExCo and LegCo may raise with him.

2. I should therefore be grateful if you could pro- vide us by 17 October with a short

paragraph on currency problems for inclusion in the general Defensive Frief.
