The Treasury Medical Adviser feels that inoculation against:-

Infective Hepatitis (Gamma Globulin)

Yellow fever

is not essential, but if any member of the party wishes to have such inoculations, he or she should make an appointment with the Officers' Medical Centre, Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital, Millbank, Telephone 834-9060, extension

It should be noted that two anti-tetanus inoculations are required, with, if possible, a month between them.

5. Climate and Clothing

Weather can be pleasant, 75°F maximum, 48°F minimum. Temperature can fall sharply in the evening. Clothes as for London Autumn are best.

Bangkok

(i) It is generally very hot and humid, (aɣerage day

temperature 85°F, night temperature 75°F) Rainfall usually comes in quick heavy downpours. Tropical or light-weight clothes are desirable throughout. Cotton rather than nylon, is recommended for underwear.

(ii)

Guidance on special clothes needed by The Secretary of State (and those accompanying him) in Attendance on The Queen, has been issued by the Palace.

(iii) For those required to wear dinner jackets in the

evening, 'red sea rig' (i.e. evening trousers and white open-necked shirt) is an acceptable alternative.

Hong Kong

The weather, if good, will be warm in the sun and cold out of it, or in the wind. If poor, it will be gold and raw. Temperatures on arrival may be as much as 36°c lower than Bangkok. If clothes cannot be changed on the aircraft, a thick overcoat is essential for arrival.
