MINISTERIAL VISITS TO THE FAR EAST
1. Mr Alexander's letter of 17 April to Lord Bridges sought, inter alia, the Prime Minister's approval to visits to China by Mr Royle during the Whitsun recess and by the Secretary of State in late October or early November. Lord Bridges's reply of 24 April conveys Mr Heath's agreement.
2*
I submit a draft telegram to Peking, repeated to Rangoon, since it is proposed that fir Royle should pay a brief visit there on his way back from China. Action has already been taken as regards the Prime Minister's visit to Japan with which Mr Alexander's and Lord Bridges's letters also deal.
