In reply to question Royle said "the question of Mr Heath's visit to China was not discussed. There are no (repeat no) plans for him

to do so at the present time"

Replying another question Royle said he discussed Foreign Secretary's visit to China in October. "Sir Alec Douglas Home hopes to ? gp

1? omitted/ Peking towards end of October or beginning November and of course Mr Chiao Kwan Hua with whom I had the majority of my talks; he hopes to come Britain in the autumn although we have.not finalised date yet and Mr Chi Pang Fei the Foreign Minister has also accepted

invitation to visit United Kingdom. We have also agreed a visit for

Chinese Foreign Trade Minister who has also accepted visit to Britain".

Royle said his talks with Chi Fang Fei and Chiao Kwan Hua were "confidential". "I do not (repeat not) therefore wish to identify

the international questions we discussed. There are of course many

international questions in which both China and Britain are interested and you may assume that our talks covered many of these points".

Replying another question Royle said "we did discuss possibilities of

air links and of course it will need an international services agreement. I very much hope that we will be flying British aircraft

BOAC in due course perhaps/into Feking and I am looking forward to the day when we see Concorde arriving on tarmac at London Airport in Chinese

colours. I don't know whether this will happen but there is no

(repeat no) doubt that Chinese Government are very interested in Concorde, there's a team of course visiting Toulouse at present time, a team has already visited Filton from China and I am very hopeful that they might perhaps be considering the possibility of purchase of

Concorde. I was fortunate to be able to tell them a little about

what its like to fly in Concorde because three weeks ago I flew the

fourteen hundred miles an hour in Concorde. Its quiet, its smooth, its a great aircra and its going to sell very well" (laughter by Fress representatives).
