It was great fun seeing you all,
if only for 22 hours. Let us now try and pencil in provisional dates for a longer visit in the autumn. The programme of autumn engagements which would be in any way relevant is as follows:

Secretary of State will visit China within these dates and we very much hope will call in on Hong Kong on the outward and return journeys (telegram sent to Private Secretary).
It does all look rather hectic written down like this, and as it would be very nice to have Mr. Royle here long enough to talk over Hong Kong affairs in a comparatively calm atmosphere it would obviously be better if he came some time in the middle of November or later. This would also allow him to take account of such new policies as will be
