DRAFT PRESS RELEASE

ON THE RECORD

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of

State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs

will visit Fiji, Tonga, Hong Kong and Nepal

from 6 to 23 November. Mr. Royle will be in

Fiji from 6 to 8 November, Tonga from 8 to

10 November, Hong Kong from 11 to 15 November,

and Nepal from 17 to 21 November. Mr. Royle

will be accompanied by Mrs. Royle and a

Private Secretary. During his visit to

Hong Kong and Nepal he will also be

accompanied by Mr. Michael Wilford, an

Assistant Under-Secretary of State at the

Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

UNATTRI BUTABLE

Mr. Royle is the first British minister

to visit Fiji since independence and the

first British minister to visit Tonga.

Mr. Royle stayed briefly in Hong Kong in

June this year in order to report to the

Governor on his visit to Peking. In his

capacity as Minister in the F.C.O. respons-

ible for Hong Kong he will have discussions

on this occasion with the Governor,,the

Executive and Legislative Councils, and will

see aspects of Hong Kong's development.
