Television and Films and is to devote his full-time to

the arrangements for the setting up of the new TV

Stations.

LINE TO TAKE

Mr Royle will want to raise this question with the

Governor in order to assure himself that the timetable

is still being adhered to and that the tenders do in

fact go out by the end of the year. Any further delay

may well destroy Rediffusion (a U-based company) which

pioneered television in Hong Kong.

COPYRIGHT

We have been pressing the Hong Kong Government for

so e considerable time to amend their own copyright

legislation and for the 1956 UK Copyright Act to be

extended to cover Hong Kong. This has be n held up because copyright was involved in the television licence difficulties. This has now been sorted out, however and the Hong Kong Government have asked that the Copyright Act f 1956 should be extended to Hong Kong with effect from 1 January 1973. They are still working on the local legislation which they hoe will be completed by the end of the year.
