with teachers, the output of the three existing

Colleges of Education would be increased by 2,000 by
1976. A reconstituted Board of Education will be
asked to advise on these proposals as soon as possible.
4. Plans are now in hand to raise the number of
university places from 6,000 in 1974 to 8,400 by 1978.
The major expansion, however, should be achieved by
the new Polytechnic for which a Director has been
appointed) which has as its target 8,000 full-time
and 20,000 part-time students by 1978.
