Royle flies in for
'general talks'
THE PARLIAMENTARY Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr Anthony Royle, said on his arrival in Hongkong last night he would talk with top Government officials about "the Colony in general."
Soon after alighting from a jet from Sydney, Mr Royle said: "As Minister for Hongkong. I want to see what is going on here.
"I have a very big programme lined up for the next four days and I will take a look at everything.
"My talks with Government will encompass many subjects, but I'm not here to talk about anything specifically."
Mr Royle, who is travelling with his wife, was greeted at the airport by the Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose, and Lady Macl.chose.
Mr Royle said this was the first time he had been in Hongkong for any length of time in 18 months.
In May he made two brief stop-overs here on his way to and from Peking.
The Minister will confer with the Governor, the Colonial Secretary, Sir Hugh Norman-Walker, and other Government officials.
He will also meet with unofficial members of the Executive, Legislative and Urban Councils, Heung Yee Kuk officials and the Senior British Trade Commissioner, Mr Tom Aston.
During his visit, Mr Royle will be joined by the Assistant Under-Secretary of State, Mr K. M. Wilford, who is also in Hongkong.
