HD ROYI'N VI IT LC HONG KONG

1. i understand that when Mr Royle was in Tong Fong, your department undertook to send copies of original press cuttings arising out of his visit. A month later these have not arived, and r Royle has asked to express his disappointment. Le have cone our best to remedy the deficiency from the rapers reaching us her, but I fear there are inevitable gaps.

2.

Similarly Mr Royle has asked me to point out that he has had to answer several querics from is about questions arising from his press conference on hong kong, without the help of the transcript of the conference which is only now being sent to us in arcponse to our telegram.

3. Do you think you could impress upon your people the extent to which Ministers need to be briefed on public reactions to their statements and actions in 11 parts of the world? hen they travel to a foreign country the Information section of our relevant embassy would of course see to this. But ong Kong is, as so often, unique, nd I fear we have no alternative but to rely on you.
