Canton, we have reached agreement on a cultural front

with the Chinese Government. The exhibition of these

very magnificent archaeological treasures which have

been discovered in China to be exhibited in London.

This is something which we very much welcome. Only today I see in the papers, pictures of Mr. Robson coming back from the other side of the boarder having reached a very satisfactory agreement regarding water supplies for Hong Kong, this is something which I

think we all welcome. This in itself is an excellent example of mutual co-operation working level which is so important and there are other examples. At the moment there is a team, I believe, from China in Hong Kong looking into the Hotel position with a view to increasing tourism, I assume in the Peoples Republic of China. We already mentioned the communications aspect of it, I will mention the water aspect of it. Banking there have been more talks about, further links in the banking field and also in the electricity field. I think this is all very encouraging and there is no doubt at all about it that our relations with China have improved in a dramatic fashion in the last nine months.

Could you give us some more details on this trainees team you say is in Hong Kong discussing hotels and tourism? Did you have talks with them and if so could you give us the details?

I'm just

No, I havn't had talks with them at all. informed by one of the Hotel Managements that they have got this team. They are here in the colony at the moment and they are looking into the way that Hotels are run in the colony.

What sort of comments can you give on the political future on the New Territories?
