The crime rate is rising steadily
though it still compares favourably with other areas.
Detection rate is high. But of particular concern
is the rate of increase in crimes of violence by
young jpeople this is receiving the most adverse
publicity, and is leading to demands for positive
action to curb it.

The above figures relate to reported

crime only. The unknown factor is how many crimes are not reported. If this number is large, as some allege (I believe correctly) quite a different complexion is put on these figures and on the detection rate.
