EMPLOYMENT VOUCHERS FOR ENTRY INTO THE UNITED KINGDOM
With effect from 1 June 1971, thè annual quota
of employment vouchers for all dependent territories
was reduced from 600 to 400. This meant that Hong
Kong's annual quota was reduced from 300 to 200 vouchers
(all of which were taken up). This left a balance of
200 vouchers for the remaining dependent territories.
During the last 3 years the annual issue of vouchers
to dependent territories other than Hong Kong has been
at the rate of less than 100, and during 1971 only
64 vouchers were taken up.
2. Since 1 June 1971, the intake of stateless Chinese
from Hong Kong has also been reduced by the restrictions
placed on the admission of alien workers into this
country.
3. With effect from the same date, Malta's annual
quota was reduced from 1,000 to 600 vouchers: at
present Malta's annual take up of vouchers is running
at about 130 below the latter figure.
4. It is proposed that the additional quota of 500 vouchers required for United Kingdom passport holders
in India should be made up as follows:
(i) By taking 100 vouchers from Malta.
(ii) By taking 112 vouchers from the dependent territories (of which 12 would come from Hong Kong)
/(iii)
