A student seminar was held at New Asia College at which the students pressed for a greater say in administration and staffing of the College.
The student organisations supporting the blind workers held a "Forum on the Blind" at the Caritas Centre. It was attended by 500 people. Some of the more militant participants advocated a "sit-in" at the Star Ferry immediately after- wards, but more moderate elements delayed this for several days.
Students accompanied blind workers to the Head- quarters of Social Welfare Department, Hysan Avenue, Causeway Bay. When their demands were not met they camped out on the pavement at the entrance to the building, where they remained throughout the following day.
The students led the blind workers to the Catholic Centre, Connaught Road, to meet the Chairman of the Society for the Blind. They were dissatisfied with his answers and moved on to the Star Ferry Concourse, where they remained for two days and nights. The students who accompanied and assisted them collected about HK$30,000 from passers-by and took the opportunity of displaying posters attacking Government for squandering money on the Festival of Hong Kong.
At a meeting with the Chairman of the Society for the Blind the blind workers were told that their demands would be met, whereupon they and the students assisting them all dispersed.
The students who had been assisting the blind workers and the Catholic Labour Advisory Team, who were also involved, held a joint meeting with the blind workers to celebrate the success- ful conclusion of their campaign.
Members of the Hong Kong Federation of Students, "'70's Bi-Weekly" and Post Secondary Students Social Service Group helped residents of Sugar Street condemned buildings to petition at Government House. They had a sit-in outside Government House and stayed there until the 3rd January 1972.
Students of the three Colleges of Education opposed the new salary scale and about 600 students went to Government House to hand in a petition.
