COMMUNIST schools in Hongkong have discarded their militancy of a few years ago for a more sober approach to scholastic goals as Peking's wind of comradely diplomacy continues to drift beyond China's borders.

Since last year their classer have not held political asstions on Mao's thoughts but have been concentrating on more mundane subjects of English, science, history etc.
Student intake at these schools is also increasing.
Today there are 33,590 students studying in Com. munist schools 1,235 more than last year. They represent more than one per cent of a student population of 1,325,300 in Hongkong.
Asked how Communist schools are run and where they get their sources of revenue, the principal said that school fees were the only source of income.
