I have the honour to inform you that I have appointed Messrs. J. C. C. Walden, J. P., and A. S. Robertson, J. P., provisionally and subject to Her Majesty's pleasure, to be Official Members of the Legislative Council with effect from 24th July 1972 during the absence from the Colony of Messrs. I. M. Lightbody, J. P., and J. J. Robson, C. B. E., J. P.

Mr Walden's previous provisional appointment referred to in my despatch no. 516 dated 5th July 1971 expired on 8th September 1971 on the return to the Colony of Mr Lightbody.

This will be Mr Robertson's first appointment to the Council. He will act as Director of Public Works during Mr

Robson's absence on leave.

Copies of the instruments of appointment and of the Gazette notices promulgating the appointments are attached.
