The attached PQ by Mr James Sillars is for oral answer on 25 January. A draft reply is attached. It should reach the Parliamentary Office by noon on Monday 18 January.

I understand that it is quite common for Members of Parliament to make use of this form of question in order to give them as wide a range as possible in asking supplementaries. We have no information as to Mr Sillars' particular interests and the attached notes therefore cover a fairly wide range of subjects. It is possible that some Members may take the opportunity to ask questions based on the debate in the House of Lords on 12 January.
