The Secretary of State subsequently confirmed

his wish to visit Hong Kong next year and his

willingness to open the Science Centre. He

expressed a preference for the visit to take place

immediately after Easter (during the Parliamentary

recess). This would mean that he would be in a

position to travel on or about 10 April, arriving in

Hong Kong on 11 April. It was envisaged that he could go on to Australia for the SEATO/meeting

(provided that the dates fitted) and to New Zealand.

5. The dates suggested above were provisionally

agreed with the Governor of Hong Kong (and, in
