717/628 forå
VISITS BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE.
1. We spoke about my submission of 13 October. We have
subsequently had a word with the Frivate Office, who agree that
it is unlikely that the Secretary of State will wish to visit
Tokyo and Seoul at the time of his visit to Australia and New
Zealand in June next year, in spite of what he said to Mr Fukuda.
It is probable that he will make these visits when he goes to
Thailand in February in attendance upon Her Majesty The Queen.
The timing of the next round of talks was discussed when
Sir J Pilcher called on the Secretary of State on 12 October
this week. The Ambassador is said to have preferred the earlier
date as he is due to retire about June.
2.
3.
Private Office say that they do not now need a further
submission from us at present.
