1. I think you are aware that Mr. Royle wishes to visit Hong Kong about once a year as long as he is responsible for Hong Kong affairs. Sir Murray Maclehose suggested to Mr. Royle that February might be an appropriate time for his next visit. Mr. Royle agreed but did not wish to take the proposal further until the Secretary of State's plans became clear. There is no question of it being inconvenient for Hong Kong to be included in the Secretary of State's February trip because Mr. Royle might also be visiting the Colony.

2. I expect that Mr. Royle might wish to visit other Far Eastern countries if he goes to Hong Kong early next year, but, like the visit to Hong Kong itself, this would depend entirely on the Secretary of State's plans.
