1. I understand from Mrs McKeon of Marine Department DTI that Hong Kong is a port of British Registry reporting to the British Registrar in Cardiff.

2. What I am attempting to discover is the annual value to Hong Kong of "X" number of shipping tons and firstly I should like to know if I can assume that this value, whatever it may be, is the same whether Hong Kong is a British port of registry or whether it maintains a separate Register of its own. Assuming the value is the same, could you please confirm that registration fees are once-and-for-all payments (ie entrance fees rather than annual subscriptions) and that no other revenue (eg survey fees, mortgage transfer fees etc) accrues to the port of registration when the ship or ships in question do not visit that port?
