It would be to our advantage if Sir Douglas were to become the front man in Hong Kong, and he would be helpful, for instance, in advising on the proposed visit in November/December mentioned in my preceding paragraph.
Shephard also mentioned how heavily the Hong Kong Government leant on their consulting engineers for advice. Freeman Fox will doubtless be perfectly impartial in their recommendations, but Shephard suggested that the British consortium should maintain the closest possible contact with J T Edwards, who is the Freeman Fox partner most connected with the project. I imagine, however, that this is already being done.
On the slightly different but related topic, I should be most grateful if you could let me have a resume of any discussions which you may have had with Sir David Trench and Sir Murray MacLehose during the last few weeks.
