Thank you for letter No CRE 29671 of 22 July relating to Chris Roun thwaite's letter of 8 July.
2. I refer to our various telephone conversations confirming that we agree with your comments and in particular to my latest conversation with Mr Cohen who, in your absence, I told we saw no objection in informing Rounthwaite that Sir Leslie Monson, our Deputy Under-Secretary of State, had mentioned the Underground Railway to Sir David Trench during the latter's recent visit to Britain. We shall, of course, be pursuing the subject after an appropriate interval.
3. We have not yet received written confirmation from your Tours Section but we expect Mr Blackwell to have London engagements during the first two weeks of October and hope, during that time, to arrange a meeting with Sir Murray MacLehose.
