ESTABLISHMENT OF INTER-DEPARTMENTAL WORKING GROUP
6
The Further Studies Final Report has been considered in- dependently by the Transport Advisory Committee and by interested Govern- ment Departments. In order now to assess whether the Consultants' re- commendations are a practical and feasible solution (or part solution) of the movement problem in the years to come, an inter-departmental Working Group under the chairmanship of the Deputy Economic Secretary has been established. It is expected that it will be some six months before the Working Group's task has been completed and a memorandum for the con- sideration of Honourable Members prepared. Meanwhile, it is necessary to continue to protect the routes of the railway system so that, should implementation of the system, in whole or in part, be decided upon, it will not be complicated by building development.
PRELIMINARY ACTION TAKEN TO PROTECT ROUTES
