14th October, 1971.

Dear Mr. Logan,

I shall be very grateful if you tell Mr. Royle how very much I enjoyed the dinner party he gave in Admiralty House on 29th September. I very much appreciated the honour, and the opportunity to meet him and his other guests.

I hope he will not think me ungracious in not writing until now, but since my return to Hongkong last week, I have been very much concerned with the Immigration Bill, the Debate on the second reading of which resumed yesterday, after an adjournment since June; it was followed by the Committee Stage, when a considerable number of important amendments were made. You may be interested to see the reports in the newspapers this morning, and an editorial comment.

I very much hope to have the opportunity of seeing

you in Hongkong.
