is in force against him; no conditions of stay may be imposed on him; and he can only be deported in the interest of the security of Hong Kong or for political reasons affecting the relations of HMC in the United Kingdom with another country.

The Ordinance also gives legal recognition to the special position in Hong Kong of longstanding residents who are wholly or partly of the Chinese race and provides that they may only be deported in the same way as United Kingdom belongers (see the fifth paragraph of this letter).
