Government, on its part, shall immediately remit to the British Government the half of such amount; it being understood that any sums so advanced by the British and French Governments shall be proportionally repaid to them out of any funds which may be remitted by the Turkish Go- vernment to the British Govern- ment.

In witness whereof, the Un- dersigned, being duly authorized by their respective Governments, have signed the present Decla- ration, and have affixed thereto the seal of their arms.

HER Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Swiss Confederation, being ani- mated with the desire to main- tain and stengthen the ties of friendship which happily subsist between the 2 countries, and to promote by every means in their power the commercial relations between their respective subjects and citizens, have resolved to
