ANNEX
The first two of the above-mentioned clauses would
appear to give the Governor greater powers than those
possessed by the Home Secretary in this country in
relation to removal and deportation. In the United
Kingdom, the removal of an alien or of a Commonwealth
citizen may be ordered if he is refused entry or if he
is found here after having landed illegally, provided
that no directions for his removal are given if he has
been in the United Kingdom for two months or more.
Your Clause 15(2) of the Bill provides for a period of six
months (as compared with two months) during which
directions for removal may be given in the case of an
immigrant whose presence is detected after an illegal
