La. Mr. Merlyn Rees (Leeds, South): To ask the
Secretary of State for Foreign and
Commonwealth Affairs, what discussions he has had with the Government of Hong Kong
concerning the new immigration laws in that colony which restrict the freedom of entry of citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonius.
NO. 9W
MR. ANTHONY ROYLE
If the honourable Member is referring to the Immigration Bill which was recently published by the Hong Kong Government but which has not yet been enacted, this Bill has been the subject of correspondence between my Department and the Hong Kong Government since last October. It does not seek to make any change in require- ments relating to the freedom of entry into Hong Kong of citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies.
